SADOYA

Sadoya began producing wine in 1917, at a site just four minutes walk from JR Kofu Station. Its signature brand, Château Brillant, is made from Cabernet Sauvignon for red wines and Semillon for white wines, both carefully aged to ensure rich bouquet and taste. Both the third and fourth generation winemakers are graduates of the Ecole Nationale Superieure d’Agronomique de Montpellier in France. The varieties planted in its rock-walled hillside vineyards are chosen to take full advantage of the terroir and to produce wines that offer a superb complement to Japanese cuisine. Until 1960, Sadoya produced Koshu, using grapes purchased from local farmers. Forty years later, it returned to producing Koshu to celebrate the establishment of KOJ. Its Koshu wine has a distinctive Sadoya character.
